Hearfolio Privacy Policy

Hearfolio lets people import documents, web links, and pasted text so they can listen to them with text to speech on iPhone.

What Hearfolio stores

Documents, links, and pasted text that the user imports.
Playback progress, bookmarks, notes, review cards, and app preferences.
Optional files exported by the user, such as audio exports or study packets.
If the user creates a Hearfolio account with Sign in with Apple, Hearfolio stores Apple's opaque user identifier, any name or relay email the user chooses to share, and a random purchase-account token securely in the iPhone Keychain. Hearfolio never receives the user's Apple Account password.
If the user requests a narrated recap or improved-realism audio render, the relevant text and generation settings needed to produce that output.
For paid generation, Hearfolio stores Apple's transaction and product identifiers, the opaque purchase-account token, entitlement status and dates, and consumed seconds. Hearfolio does not receive payment-card details.

To read documents aloud, resume playback, and power search, bookmarks, notes, study cards, and exports.
To sync the user's library and reading progress through the user's private iCloud account when iCloud is available.
To create narrated recaps or improved-realism audio only when the user explicitly requests those features.
To associate App Store purchases with the user's Hearfolio account using an opaque random token.

Hearfolio does not sell personal data, use imported content for advertising, or use it for cross-app tracking.
Hearfolio uses Apple system services, including iCloud/CloudKit, when enabled on the device.
Sign in with Apple is used when the user creates a free account during setup or after the openly displayed 10-hour account-free listening allowance. Standard listening remains free after account creation, and Premium purchases remain optional.
When the user requests recap generation or improved-realism audio, Hearfolio sends the necessary text securely to Hearfolio's backend and its speech or language processing providers to create that output.

Apple platform services provide speech synthesis, iCloud sync, and standard system frameworks.
A managed backend and language or speech processing providers are used only when the user explicitly requests narrated recaps or improved-realism audio.
Hearfolio may fetch webpage content from a URL the user explicitly imports.

Imported content and related library data remain on the device unless the user enables iCloud sync.
Recap-generation requests are processed only to deliver the requested audio or script.
Verified transaction and usage records are retained for entitlement, duplicate-prevention, refund or revocation handling, and customer support. They contain opaque account and purchase identifiers, not imported document text or payment-card data.
Users can delete documents and related metadata inside Hearfolio at any time.
Users can delete the Hearfolio sign-in identity, shared name or email, backend identity binding, and backend session from Settings > Account. An opaque purchase token and verified transaction/usage records are retained so purchases, restoration, refunds, revocations, and fraud prevention remain correct. Sign in with Apple can be revoked separately in Apple Account settings. Local documents are not silently deleted with the sign-in identity.
